Prior to the first multi-year base in 1950, Maine issued new plates annually to registrants, with the tendency to reissue the same number to the same registrant year after year (especially in cases of low numbers). This led to some wonderful garage-wall runs of plates spanning in some cases nearly 40 years of plates bearing the same number. Multi-year plates with yearly validation stickers have pretty much eliminated such runs, but I've created this run of my own plate number on the chickadee base, showing the yearly progression of different validation stickers, etc. Maybe not as striking to look at as one of those 1905-1950 runs, but certainly rarer...
