Nuevo León Graphic License Plates, 1998-present

19: Nuevo León

NL Mex #RRE9924
Nuevo León undated passenger issue (1998 issue). This is the first graphic offering from Nuevo León, featuring a tan band at the bottom and a blue mountain in the background. The plate also has the state seal between the "NL" and the "MEX," and a graphic of some gears to the left of the state name. This apparently refers to the industrial manufacturing base within the state. These plates are also bar-coded with the plate number directly above the serial.
NL Mex #RUV-67-77
Nuevo León undated passenger issue (2002 issue). Revised graphic from Nuevo León. Again, mountains are prominently featured, with the state seal at the top left. This plate appears to have a very faded validation sticker at the lower right, one of the few states to use these.
NL Mex #RYT-53-02
Nuevo León undated passenger issue (2005 issue). This issue from Nuevo León is notable in that it was the first of the Mexican graphics to substitute a graphic element within the plate for one of the dash separators in the serial. This issue contains the state shape in place of the first dash. Also included is the current government logo and the slogan "Estado de Progreso."
NL Mex #SFC-86-62
Nuevo León undated passenger issue (2008 issue). 2008 issue with a faint graphic of a mountainside in the background.
NL Mex #SKV-69-64
Nuevo León undated passenger issue (2011 issue). A new plate was introduced in 2011 with the state name and government logo at top.
NL Mex #RKX-103-A
Nuevo León 2017 passenger issue. New national standards were established by Mexico's Secretary for Communications and Transport starting in 2017, resulting in a flood of new issues. These standards dictate the placement of graphic elements on the plates, mostly restricted now to the top and bottom of the plate. This sparse offering was Nuevo León's entry into the new standard.
