Coahuila undated passenger issue (1998 issue). Coahuila was one of the states to opt for a design featuring the state seal in the center. At the bottom right is a logo and the slogan "Coahuila - Tierra de Opportunidades" or "Land of Opportunity." |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2001 issue). This plate features the state seal in the background, with the government logo at the bottom right and the colors of Mexico's flag at bottom left. |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2004 issue). Third graphic plate from Coahuila, this one features the image of Revolutionary hero Venustiano Carranza on a horse to the left, and the Cristo de las Noas monument (image of Christ on the cross) at the right. Other elements are similar to the second-generation plate. |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2007 issue). Fourth graphic issue for Coahuila, this time featuring a multi-color stylized state name and graphic of the Church of Santiago Apostol in Monclova, Coahuila (thanks for the caption, saved me some research). |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2010 issue). This plate was issued in 2010 and used through 2012, featuring green bands top and bottom with a red "wave" at center. The slogan "Cuna de la Revolucion" ("Heart of the Revolution") was added as a nod to the 2010 bicentennial of the country's revolution. |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2013 issue). A new issue was introduced in 2013 featuring a dinosaur and dinosaur tracks in the background. This refers to numerous archeological finds of dinosaur tracks and remains within the state. The plate contains the slogan "Coahuila, Tierra de Dinosaurios" ("Land of Dinosaurs.") |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2016 issue). Revised dinosaur-themed issue, featuring a meaner-looking pterodactyl along with the dinosaur tracks. The Un Estado de Energia slogan was also added, making Coahuila a State of Energy as well as Land of Dinosaurs. Lots to keep up with. |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2018 issue). New national standards were established by Mexico's Secretary for Communications and Transport starting in 2017, resulting in a flood of new issues. These standards dictate the placement of graphic elements on the plates, mostly restricted now to the top and bottom of the plate. Coahuila tweaked its previous Tierra de Dinosaurios issue into compliance, cramming the graphic elements into the top band. Coahuila is one of the few states still using the ABC-12-34 serial format on their newer issues, having not run out of available combinations. |
Coahuila undated passenger issue (2019 issue). A new graphic was introduced in 2019, again featuring a dinosaur (in skeleton form) and other landscape scenes, and incorporating the slogans "¡Fuerte, Coahuila es!" and "magiCOahuila" (shades of "BiCenTENNial" here) into the design. Serial format remains ABC-12-34. |
